YOGA STUDIO
This project involved the adaptive reuse of a commercial ground floor unit within an existing residential building into a multifunctional wellness studio. The brief called for a programmatically flexible layout, a coherent material strategy, and the integration of existing ceramic flooring. Our focus was spatial efficiency, multifunctionality, and a calm, timeless atmosphere aligned with wellness-oriented use.
Materially, the studio draws from Wabi Sabi principles: matte surfaces, limewash walls, wood, and soft lighting define a restrained, tactile palette. Rather than introduce ornamental elements, lighting and texture articulate space and mood. The reuse of existing finishes, combined with deliberate interventions, allowed for cost efficiency without compromising design intent.
This project demonstrates how architectural clarity, material sensitivity, and adaptive planning can enable a compact interior to host diverse programs while maintaining a coherent spatial identity.

The plan is organized around a reception with integrated retail, and includes a large yoga studio, a multifunctional room, a Pilates room, and a 1-on-1 therapy suite. Support spaces – changing rooms, toilets, storage, and technical spaces – are organized close to the reception in order to reduce circulation loss.

The main yoga room, the project’s largest space, is designed as a serene and simple room. Here, the ceramic flooring was overlaid with warm wood parquet. Integrated storage niches, direct natural lighting, and uninterrupted wall surfaces contribute to a calm, uninterrupted environment.

The adjacent multifunctional room supports a range of uses – fitness, yoga, workshops, and small events – through a combination of concealed storage, adaptable lighting and mirrored surfaces. The room maintains material and atmospheric continuity with the rest of the studio, ensuring flexibility without spatial fragmentation.
