MOUNTAIN DORF HOTEL
The story begins with the place. In the northern Romania, where the settlements disappear into the mountainous landscape, there is a wide meadow with smooth hills and views of the peaks. Here we propose a contemporary hamlet inspired by the structure of traditional villages. The brief asked for an authentic experience, and the concept starts from the dialogue with the traditional architecture, with the landscape and with the way in which the households in the area are placed on the land.
The chalets continue the relationship between tradition and modernity. The typologies of mountain buildings, with low silhouettes, low ridges, facades arranged along the road, were reinterpreted through clear proportions, wide openings and horizontal registers inspired by local dwellings. Each chalet also incorporates subtle architectural elements derived from the client’s branding.
The result is architecture shaped by place and memory, aligned with the client’s identity and adapted to today’s comfort.

The Dorf Hotel-type complex functions as a "village within a village", divided into three areas: the hearth in the valley, the activity area on the hill and the living area secluded into the vegetation. The buildings follow the terrain and are oriented to capture the mountain panorama while maintaining privacy between units. Pavilions for massage, sound therapy, stargazing, yoga, and small gatherings punctuate the paths, and a greenhouse with local plants completes the ensemble.
The themes inspired by the crafts of the area (Blacksmith, Potter, Weaver) appear in versions with 3, 4 or 5 bedrooms, all en-suite. Double-height living areas, large windows, an indoor–outdoor fireplace, sheltered terraces, and quiet nooks define the atmosphere. The private wellness experience is complemented by a sauna and, outside, a jacuzzi and a reinterpreted hearth. Wood and stone remain the main materials, used through contemporary construction methods that allow generous spans.
